well, there could be some link there, i'm not sure! Here's what I know about my family (the very little of it!)
My Great Grandfather (John Joseph Prest) lived in Hardwick Hall, in a town called Peter Lee (or something similar) and was somhow tied to the mining industry. I dont know my greatgrandmothers name, but I do know that they split up and my great grandfather re-married (again, dont know her name!). They had my grandfather (Richard Grandorch Prest) who possibly had a brother.
My grandfather didnt get on with the new stepmother and left for Australia and joined the Australian Air Force. Sometime around the start of the war he returned to the UK and ended up in Sheffield, marrying Jessie Brown and having a son (John Joseph Prest - my father), who married Mary Elaine Pashley and had me, Richard Prest.
My Grandfather didnt get on with his stepmother, which caused a lot of friction in the family and on his return the the UK he severed all ties with the Prest family, which now leaves me trying to piece all the bits together!
Does any of this tie in with your family? Did your grandfather have a brother?
