Dear Luke,
If your Grandfather was the Percival Priday listed in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, in the 1911 census, aged 6, he was the son of a retired Regimental Sergeant-Major, Charles Edward Priday, who was born in c. 1865. He married in c. 1900 and by 1915, he had six surviving children.
CE Priday re-enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regt in the First World War and served with the 13th battalion in 1916-18, being awarded a 'mention in dispatches' while in France; he was subsequently detached as an instructor with the Machine Gun Corps.
He died on 11th November 1918, the day of the Armistice, of pneumonia, presunmably a result of Spanish Flu.
