Capt. John Coleman Pringle left Scotland( Parents were William Pringle of Scotland and Ellen Thompson, of England) about1839. Landed in Canada, and married Anna M. Miller. around 1843 in Ontario. Then they moved to St. Clair and Marine City, Michigan. John Coleman Pringle, Robert Clair Pringle, and Walter Robert Pringle were all lakemen, had their captain's papers, and spent their lives working on the Great Lakes on tugboats. Lucy Claire Pringle was born onboard the ship, Chase S.
