I found a reference to John Pryor on Family Tree Maker CD520 - the source is Crozier's "Virginia Colonial Militia" pages 9-57. It lists John Pryor as a private in Capt. William Preston's Company of Rangers, Authorized by an Act of the House of Burgesses June 8, 1757, in service until May 4, 1759. As I understand it, the forming of these militia were in response to indian raids - or in anticipation of them. This seems the right timing for a possible John, father of Mary who married John Scott. What do you think?
