We have conversed before over the past few years. I'm descended from Peter's older brother Thomas Brown Prior. I grew up in the Buffalo area also. I had heard or read that Judith and the children went the length of the Erie Canal to Buffalo and because James had passed away, the children had to work to make ends meet.
I would think there must be many Prior descendants still in the Buffalo area. It would be quite a large family reunion. Thomas was my 4th great-grandfather and he married in 1838 at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Buffalo. The church was nice enough to send me a copy of the marriage listings they have with Thomas and his wife.
Marilyn Tracey sent me some great pictures of Thomas' son George, my 3rd great-grandfather...these were taken probably around 1870-1880. George fought in Civil War and resided in South Buffalo, I believe, the Old First Ward area.
I'd like to share more notes with you. The Priors are one of the earlier families to settle in Buffalo.
