Ron, I am searching for the maiden name of "Fanny" who married Lawson Monroe Bess about 1856, probably in Mo Counties of Stoddard, Bollinger, or Cape Girardeau . She was born 1835 according to census records, and died 07 Mar 1870 in Stoddard Co. When Lawson "deserted" from the Union hospital at Iuka, MS in Sept 1862, Andrew Proffer, and Lawson's cousins, Martin and John W. Wilfong were along. When Lawson applied for pension, Andrew Proffer was the signer. The affidavit of acquaintance of Fanny and her death in the later pension applications by Lawson's second wife, were signed by Sarah Proffer. Lawson's son, James Monroe, by second wife, Amanda Dodge, married Anna A. Proffer daughter of Logan Proffer. Does this Fanny enter in your Proffer material in any way? You may contact me at JodyWils@aol.com. Thank you. Jo Wilson
