Descendants of William Keeper Proffer


Generation No. 1

1. WILLIAM KEEPER4 PROFFER (JOHN F.3, GEORGE2, JOHN1)1 was born March 28, 1845, and died September 10, 1913. He married FRANCIS ELLENOR LINK2 September 19, 1867, daughter of AARON LINK and ANNA SLINKARD. She was born December 30, 1849, and died January 30, 1913 in At home near Millersville, MO..

WILLIAM KEEPER PROFFER

William Keeper Proffer, born March 28, 1845, was the third child and the first son born to John and Nancy Maria (Link) Proffer. He was the grandson of George Proffer and the great-grandson of John Proffer, the pioneer of the Proffer Family in Missouri.

William K. grew up on the farm of his parents in the Millersville-Burfordville, Missouri area. He married Francis Ellenor Link, daughter of Aaron and Anna Catherine (Slinkard) Link.

Both William Keeper Proffer and his wife, Francis Ellenor Link, were descendants of John and Margaret (Fulbright) Link, the pioneers of the Link family in Missouri.

William Keeper died eight months after the death of his wife Francis E. Link. He was blind at the time of his death. They were both buried in the Gladish Cemetery.

Columbia Adafair Proffer, the daughter of William K. and Francis Proffer, and her husband John R. Ramsey, both died young and their two daughters, Della and Hattie Frances were raised by their grandparents, William Keeper and Francis Ellenor (Link) Proffer.

In "A History of the Cape Girardeau County - Stoddard County PROFFER FAMILY and its Antecedents and Descendants" by Alice Proffer Spillman, 1976, she states that John R. Ramsey was the son of Alfred and Catherine Ramsey.
