Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Just wanted you to know that my grandmother's family shortened their name from Prokopovic(the "c" needs an cup-like accent over it and means it is pronounced like a ch)to Prokop. They came from a little village, Snakov or Sznakov, near the Polish border in what is now the Slovak Republic(west of Presov). They were Greek Catholic and were most likely "Rusyn"(NOT Russian). What religion was your "Prokop" family? If they were Greek Catholic(Greek Orthodox)they were probably Rusyn. This family settled in Western PA and Niagara Falls in early 1900's.
