This is correct. It is a name that was made up from Prénouveau, and then Pronouveau.

My family, which is obviously related to yours, has the genealogy of the Pronovost family back until 2 or 4 generations before our ancestors left Brittany (traditional province of France).

Have you tried getting the genealogical tree done for your lineage?
