I am so happy to find more information about caty prothero!! There were some letters written by some of her granddaughters in which she waas described as dark complected
and very pretty with high cheekbones which led some of us to believe that she as well as her husband were of mixed indian blood. my father as well as some of my cousins have inherited the dark skin and eyes. James Hughes waas described as dark and with the bearing of an Indian and he himself described himself as an "Indian Brave" in a book he kept family notes in. He served in some capacity as an interpreter during the early wars. I would love to hear from you and anyone else who would have information about Caty.
