Thank you for your info. I did find my GreatGrandpa Cheney Russell PROUTY in Eagle Pass, Tx, he was the Collector of Customs for the U.S. Treasury at the border. He was transfered from Port Indianola, Texas after 2 hurricanes destroyed the entire port and city. He met my GreatGrandma Juanita MACIAS (Maa-cee-it) who was full-blooded Comanche Indian. He was 60, She was 14. (Because of their age difference makes me wonder if Cheney didn't have a previous Family, which he may have lost through death or divorce.) They married and had children. Rosel Claudio (or Russell Clyde) was there oldest, and my Grandpa. Cheney was from Spencer, Worchester Co., Mass. His parents were William and Rebekah (PROUTY) PROUTY. William's parents were Joshua PROUTY. Rebekah's was Eli and Rebekah (BEMIS) PROUTY, all from Spencer, Mass. I have been given most of the line from Louisie PROUTY, who is my 4th cousin, twice removed. I now have my lineage back to the 1100's thanks to her. I had been looking in the wrong direction. I thought I was from the Lubbock PROUTY's but thanks to Cheney and Juanita, I am from the entire PROUTY clan in Atascosa Co., just south of San Antonio, Tx., where I live. Keep in touch, I am acquiring so much info.
