Cheney Russell PROUTY, Spencer, Mass

Cheney Russell PROUTY was reassigned to the Customshouse, as a "Collector of Customs" in 1890 after being transfered from Port Indianola, Texas. He met my Great-Grandmother Juanita MACIAS (pronounced Maa-cee-it) in Eagle Pass, where they married and had children. He was age 60 and She was age 14 when they met and married. I believe that Great-Grandpa had a previous Family separated by death or divorce. Cheney is the son of William and Rebekah (PROUTY) PROUTY, all of Spencer, Worchester County, Mass. Can anyone verify my suspicions?
