Ken, Thanks for reply. I apologize as my query is a bit misleading. Afraid I have nothing at all on the Proutys other than the name Samuel W. Prouty. My main interest is in the Elizabeth Dickey that he married in 1843, because it appears on the surface that she married our Drury Sanders in 1846. I looked in all my favorite haunts for anything on old Sam and found nothing. Does not appear to have been too many Samuel Proutys around. My guess would be that the one you cite could very well be a son of the Samuel W. Prouty that married Elizabeth Dickey, but would have had to have been by an earlier wife. If true, it just adds to the mystery -- for then we would have Drury's second wife with a stepson born in KY to go along with all the other children mysteriously born in KY while apparent parents were living in MO. If I get lucky and find anything on Sam, I'll drop you a line. Thanks again, Butch
