Ellen Lavinia PROUTY DRAKE,married to Jeremiah WHITE DRAKE & Margery Adalaide PROUTY FRANK, married to Francis L. Frank, were daughters of William PROUTY of Spencer, Worcester County, Mass. They were the sister to Cheney Russell PROUTY, my Great-Grandfather. He died about 1904 in Eagle Pass, Texas. His career was remarkable as a Civil War Veteran, a twice Presidential appointment, served as Collector of Customs in Indianola, Texas, was the first Mayor in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas, was the Vice-president of Simpson National Bank, and owned the ice house in Eagle Pass, that imported ice from Boston, Mass during the winter, for usage during the hot Texas summers. Ellen & Ada made a trip to Cheney's bedside before his death or at his death in Eagle Pass, Texas. I am looking for a diary or journal which may have given exact dates and conditions of his death, which the sisters may have kept and it may still be in the Family. Both sisters were from Worcester, Mass. Anyone having this info please contact me.
