Thank you for your response Louise.

My Grandmother Altha Evalyn Helm was born 12/18/1882 probably in Wisconsin, but her parents John Quincy Adams Helm and his wife Hannah Jane (Shultz) Helm, b. 2/28/1853 in Ohio, d. 3/15/1894 in Loup City, Nebraska. They both apparently died when the children were small and all the children were sent to live with other relatives, one being the Louis Helm, b. 1889 who later married Grace ?, that you mentioned being adopted by Maryetta and John Prouty. My grandmother went to live with her maternal aunt, Altha (Shultz) Andersen and her husband Anders Andersen from Denmark (according to a letter received by his neices)--
Maryett(according to our family bible) (Shultz) Prouty was born 8/11/1842. Maryett is one of eight siblings that I have listed in our "Bible" born to Rev. Adam Shultz, b. 3/10/1815 and Lucy Quatermass, b. 3/26/1840. Harriet, Mayett, Lucy Ann, David Preston-who married Matilda M. Pinkerton 1877, Hannah Jane, Alice Emeline (twin), Altha Eveline (twin), and Martha Ellen Shultz.

This sounds like the same family. Thank you. If you would like more information about this part of the family, I would be happy to share the history that I have done thus far. My e-mail address is or you can send request to my address: 111 Circle Slope Drive, Simpsonville, SC. Thank you. I would like to know more information about your family. I may be able to connect more of mine by researching your connections. Thank you again, Candy
