Hello all Prouty's

Hi, I came across this website actually looking for the Prouty family crest. My grandmother is a Prouty. We have a very detailed family genealogy. I work on the Civil War part only. At least 178 Prouty's fought in the Civil War. They represented every Union state except for, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Delaware.

Prouty's mostly served in Massachusetts regiments. California, Oregon, Denver City, Nebraska, Kansas are also states/territories they served in.

I was simply amazed to see this many Prouty's on this site. My grandmother is from upstate New York.

I have the listing of Prouty's killed in action, mortally wounded, wounded, pow, pow that died in prison, deserted and rejected during the Civil War. 95% of the Prouty's fought for the Union. Texas and Georgia also had Prouty's.

Many of the Prouty's fought in the best regiments, brigades, divisions, corps and Armies.

I have registered many Prouty's on the website, Military History online. The Prouty's have fought in all and every war on this great nation's soil. King James war, French and Indian war, American Revolution, war of 1812 and the Civil War.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Have a great weekend,

Shawn Verdine
