Prouty - 1857 Crawford, PA

I'm trying to sort through family ties of my 2g-grandfather, William E. Tripp. His mother was Nancy Davis of East Fallowfield, Crawford, Pennsylvania. I believe Nancy and her sister had a few children in various stages of wedlock, and a parade of last names appears with the Davis grandparents in the 1850s-1870s. One of these is Hanna, listed as Hanna Williams in early census records, later married to a Bowman. I figured Hanna was a cousin but learned from William E's obituary that she was a sister. Hanna's obituary listed her as Hanna Elizabeth Prouty, born 12 Nov 1857 in Crawford, Pennsylvania, died 16 Mar 1929 in Hancock, Iowa. I have no idea where the Prouty name comes from...does anyone have any link to a Prouty line in the Meadesville, Pennsylvania area?
