Hello Carolyn, I don't know if this will lead us to any conclusion but I found a Provan family that seems to match a lot of our information. Maybe you have already seen this? On Ancestry.com go to 'family tree' and type in david provan. go down to "david Provan" father;john provan, mother;jean stevenson; spouse jante LOWIE. The spouse name doesn't seem to match, but if you follow it down, their son John (b.1775) matches my info and that John married Janet Duncan. That leads right to my family line. Some of this info I had received from a lady named Kathy Provan who lives in Canada. She had the John Provan married to Jean Stevenson, but has David (their twin son) married to Janet Cowan. I am not quite sure if Janet's last name is Cowan or Lowie? I wonder if that David (b. 1749) was married twice? once to Cowan and then to Lowie. Do you know of any of this?

For now, Betty
