Am looking for information regarding John Provan, born in England in 1820's/1830's. His family was from Scotland and is possibly associated with Provan Hall of Glasgow, built circa 1471. John married Mary Bookless (Booklet?), born in Scotland. Their children included a daughter, a son, and a second son named Thomas Scott Provan, b. 1846-57 in Glasgow or England. Thomas emigrated from London to the US in 1882 and his brother & sister remained in England. An uncle of Thomas (brother of John Provan?) had previously emigrated to Canada. Thomas was a boiler maker, but ended up homesteading near Redmond, Washington. He died in Avandale, WA, 1931. I have more current information, but nothing earlier than John Provan. If anyone sees a possible connection please let me know (Thomas is my wife's g grandfather).
