I have information about William Provan, md to Mary McInnes.

Williamís father was David Provan, B 14 Jan 1842, Thornhill, Kirkardine by Duone, Perth; D 24 May 1921, High Banton, Kilsyth, Stirling, Scotland; Md 31 Dec 1863 in Kilsyth, to Janet Bennie (B abt 1845 Falkirk, Stirling). Her parents were William Bennie and Janet Drummond.

Next Generation back: David Provan, Ch 15 May 1795, Kilsyth, Stirling, Scotland; D before 1864; married 8 Dec 1839 to Janet Ferguson, B. Abt 1809, Thornhill, Perth, Scotland; D 18 Apr 1883. (Her parents were David Ferguson, abt 1784 and Marion Roig(?) Abt 1784.

Next Generation back: David Provan, Abt 1770, married to Mary Armour, Abt 1772.
I have done extensive research on the Provanís from the Kilsyth area. I have not yet connected into your Williamís family, but I know they are connectedĖitís just a matter of more research to get the connection. One thing that makes it difficult is that if a family of (say) 5 boys had a father named David. The first son of each of these 5 boys would be named David, all being born within 5 to 10 years in Kilsyth!
