etienne provencal, m. josette lavigne, 1760?

i am a descendant of
francois provencal who married marie-josette millier
(also given or spelled as mellegeur, and as mellier).
...she is dau. of antoine millier and reine-marie chapdelaine of contrecoeur.

francois and marie-josette millier married at st-antoine-sur-richelieu on 22 oct, 1787.

so far so good.
the problem is with the parents of francois provencal...
they are given as
etienne provencal and marie-josette lavigne.
i am really stuck on these two.
provencal is probably a "dit" name.
lavigne is also probably a "dit" name.

does anyone know anything about etienne provencal who married marie-josette lavigne in the period 1740 to
about 1770.
i am assuming they are from the montreal area, but who knows for certain.
if anyone has them or has an educated guess, please contact me at
mgorman@sover.net
thanks,
mike gorman of pownal, vermont
