First to start with:
Joseph Yard Provance being the son of John William and Sarah Yard Provance
Sarah's will (Greene County, Pa. Will Book 1, p. 1 dated 17 April 1796 and probated 26 July 1796.
"Tenthly I give and bequeath to my well beloved Son Joseph Yard Provence 1000 acres lying in Harrison County Virginia on Mill Creek to him and heirs and assigns forever.
Eleventhly And further I bequeath to him the said Joseph Yard Provence and to his Heirs and assigns forever, one tract of land lying on Dunkard Creek Washington County State of Pensylvania known by the name of Devil's Alley 357-1/2 acres."
In Greene County in 1825 Joseph Province sells part of the Devil's Alley property to Thomas and Patience Boise (his daughter and son-in-law) and in 1830 Joseph Province sells the Devils' Alley land to George Garrison.
