This is excellent work and follow up comments on the Province saga. If one looks at the arrangement of signatures on the 1799 Clinch Mountain petition, John and William Province sign one after the other and Brasili Barnett (Barnard) signs just above them.
Thomas Provence Junior and Senior also sign several signatures away from John and William and again, one after the other.
The second John Province signs completely by himself.
It may mean nothing but it might also be a result of having traveled together from the same general area as a group in order to sign. This could be indicative of John and William (possibly brothers)living in the same area and Thomas Senior and Junior also living in the same proximity.
The Clinch River area in 1799 was still unstable and the ability of the eastern tribes to raid into the region still strong enough to warrant traveling as a group.
