Hi Sherri,
The names you mention may be rarely used in
America. But, have you checked Polish records
or Library holdings? The name began as Provin
in France, and The Edict of Nantes caused
those who did not wish to convert to the
Church of France, to flee to other countries.
Your Provin family went to Poland, that's all. And there, they changed the spelling
of their surname as did everyone else who
fled in fear of their lives.
