William S. PRUIT and Mary A. TAYLOR
Posted by: Jane (ID *****3053) Date: September 22, 2011 at 20:41:06
  of 1640

My gg-grandmother Mary A. TAYLOR b. abt 1823 Crawford Co, AR married my gg-grandfather Nimrod W. DART abt 1839. He deserted or divorced her and she went back to her maiden name and married William S. PRUIT (PRUETT/PREWIT/PREWETT) on 19 May 1861 in Union Co, AR.

He enlisted 25 Oct 1863 in Company C, 3rd Reg Arkansas
Cavalry in Perry Co, AR, served in the war, finally dying in "U.S. Hospital, Lewisburg, Conway Co, AR" of smallpox. I can find no record of a "U.S. Hospital" so suspect it may no longer exist. I can find no entry for him in the veteran
civil war database, or the veteran cemeteries in Arkansas.

I know this is all more than you need to know, but was hoping someone might have heard of this U.S. Hospital or have some lead to find William's burial place.

There should have been a pension for Mary and William's son Charlie but I can't locate anything on that, either.

Thank you for ANY help you can give!
