"BINGO" Just letting you know that the information you sent is exactly what
I have been searching for countless years. Now that I know I have found the
right (lost family) of NY, let me tell you a bit of my journey trying to find
these people.
I have made half a dozen trips to Sciota, NY which is just west of
Chazy in NE part of NY state. Located on Feryall Rd. just west of Sciota
Center is a burial plot which contains the headstones of the same people you
have just sent me. I have completely identified and photographed these
headstones many years ago before the lilac brush has completely covered over
the whole lot. This cemetery plot was identified to where it was located
many years ago when my gr. gr. grandmother was in her golden years and told
me of this place. Since then, I have not been able to go any further than
those that are buried there. I also have the history of the Babtist church
that once was built there by John Weightman.
The father's name is listed as B. Almaw and his wife as L. Almaw. His
children John, Mitchel, Edward and Infant are listed as children of B & L
Almaw. My gr. gr. grandfather of whom I have a picture of was born an Almaw
from Sciota, NY. His mother was born Parmelia Feryall (Ferriall). His
father was listed as Louis. I am only guessing that it must be Louis Almaw,
but have found a notation of Louis Lesneur. I have the Feryall line back
also, of which I have identified native american from both Alexander Feryall
and his wife Mary Guyette
In what records I have found in Chazy, which are very few, I find
various spellings of the Almaw name, I believe to not knowing how to read or
write.
Do you have any more information on this family, both Battise and
Lucie? It would really be a big help to me. I do have much more information
on the people that existed up there in Sciota and Chazy NY if I can be of any
help to you.
By the way, I am from north central MA. Where might you be from?
Thanks for getting back to me. This has been a tremendous help. Phil Jordan
