Here are my thoughts on one origin of the name Prust :-
John de Prustecote pd 10d (10 pence) in the Lay Subsidy of 1332 at Tawstock in the Hundred of Fremington, Devon.
Prustacott Farm in the parish of Launcells in N.E.Cornwall, (Eng.) is shown on the current O.S. map and is probably where John was from. Surnames were not universal at that time but when a person left home he would often have had the name of his home added to distinguish him. ("De", as I’m sure you know, is French for "of".) The current British Ordnance Survey Explorer map No.111 shows all the buildings of Prustacott and the fields around in great detail.
(By the way, to give you an idea of how money values have changed - before decimalization it was 12 pence to 1 shilling, 20 shillings to one pound. It today's money a Mars bar would cost over 6 shillings ! )
It would be a fair guess to assume that at least one branch of the Prusts started here.
I tried to e-mail you, Carl, but the Mailserver punched it back to me.have you changed your address ?
