Sorry I haven't replied before. I don't know if we're related or not, though it is possible as my Puddicombe ancestors came from england too. They lived in Devonshire as I understand and one or more could have moved to London. I'm not sure what the meaning of the actual surname is, but I seem to remember hearing that the coombe part of the name means crest (as in the crest of a hill, etc.). There is supposed to be a boat landing in Devonshire that bears the family name as well, though I have no idea where it is.
