Henry Pinkney Puett - origin of Pinkney?

Henry Pinkney Puett b. abt 1879 in NC, married my g-grandmother Nancy Viola Setzer (Daughter of Julius W. Setzer and Julia A. Bowman.) I'm wondering if anyone knows about the origin of the middle name "Pinkney", which was used with some other relatives too. I know they used mothers maiden names sometimes as middle names in later generations and Pinkney was a surname in Caldwell County, so is there a Pinkney somewhere in the ancestry??
