Hi Terry,
I know it has been a while since you posted this message, and you probably know by now the answer to your questions, but just in case, I think I know. I have a John McAtee who is married to Sarah Starr in 1802 in Surry NC. They migrated through Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and finally ended up in Harrison, Mercer Co. Missouri (Mo) on the 1860 census and there you find them living next to Elisha Puett, 51, NC and his wife, H.M., 55, NC? Women using initials only can sometimes indicate quaker background. Anyway, I am relatively sure this is the family you are looking for. I think there is also a Lee on the same page of the census. Hope this lead helps.
