The Jim Puett you ask about was James Jefferson Puett, b. 05/20/1894 in North Carolina. He married my aunt, Edna Myra DAvis on December 17, 1917 in Wellington, TExas. He died February 5, 1984.

His parents were William O. Puett and Nancy Ann McGuire. The parents farmed at Abra Community, Collingsworth County, Texas for a number of years before moving to Shamrock, Texas (10 miles away) in their later years.

I would be interested in knowing the parents of William O. Puett and Nancy Ann McGuire.

My cousin, Eula Jeanette Puett Thomas told me a few years before she died that she had researched the Puett family back to North Carolina but she never got around to providing me with that information.

I know that my Uncle Jim and his family lived in Tucumcari, New Mexico for a time. Also, there were individuals in the family who were in the railroad business.

Uncle Jim may have been a ranch hand as a young man, but moved to Shamrock, Texas shortly after he and Aunt Edna married and spent most of his life in the automobile business, he had a repair shop in his garage as my earliest memory (I was born in 1941) then he became quite an expert on radiator repair. His last business was in McLean, Texas where he drive the 20 miles each day from Shamrock, Texas. He had a body and radiator shop there.

His parents were not ranchers in the Texas sense of the word. In West Texas, a ranch is 10 square miles. Mr. Puett may have had 1/4 th square mile when he farmed at Abra.

I would like to receive any information you may have on the Puett family. I made contact last year with Jim and Edna's grandson, Timothy Puett. I had sent my first cousin Burl Puett a Christmas card and Tim called to let me know of the death of Burl during the year.
