I've got a Jabez Puffer who was born 16 Jul 1743 in Sudbury, Massachusetts and who died 7 Jan 1783. The only note that I have on him is that "he was so poor that the town built a house for him and his family." The location and time frame is certainly appropriate for possible Revolutionary War service.
