My wife has a Sgt. Josiah Puffer s. of Captain Jabez and Thankful (Haynes)Puffer who was in Captain Noah Mills Company, Colonel John Witcomb's Regiment, at the Battle of Bunker Hill on April 19, 1775. He had previously served in the French and Indian Wars. He m. Mary Read on November 29, 1759, the daughter of Jacob and Experience Read, and the great granddaughter of Dr. Philip Read of Concord. Josiah was b. at Sudbury March 21, 1735/36, and d. July 9, 1806. He was living in Westminster, Lot 62, in 1759.

We have Jabez as the s. of James and Mary (Ludden) Puffer of Braintree , and the grandson of George Puffer and (unknown) wife, originally of Boston who were granted land in Mount Wollaston in 1639. Mount Wollaston later became Braintree.

This is probably your man.
