Have gathered many sources trying to sort out the mystery. Have copy of "Tide-Water To Blue Ridge" by William E. Pullen. He lists a son John and a son Jehu for Bryant Pullen and Mary Ann Ewell. Do you think they were one in the same - or two different people? You had written Jehu/John.
Do you have a Probate 1790, Richmond Co. for a John or a Jehu?

Also have been in contact again with Jeffrey Edmonds at the Rappahannock Library and he sent me quite a few items, but he says that the Democratic Recorder does not have issues available for 1842-1848. You had mentioned that you got date of Lindsey Pullen's death of Sep 1846, from there, but how did you get it if not available? Do you have a copy?

He also sent copies of History of Fredericksburg, VA, by S. J. Quinn and pp.166-7, in regards to Jesse Pullen and a Tavern. Your info states it is p.168 and what you state is not same info as pp.166-7. Is there more info on p. 168, that I should ask him to send?

Jeffrey also sent Virginia Herald dated 18 May 1833 for death of Mrs. Eliza Pullen, wife of Capt. Jesse Pullen and daughter of the late Mr. John Shepherd, tavern keeper and I think it states that Eliz was 26y, not 20y. Do you agree with the 26y?

Do you have any idea why Jesse Pullen was a Capt. as listed in Obit of his wife Eliza in 1833? He appears to be connected with Taverns and Stables and his brother John B. Pullen was employed in Navigation of Canals, Lakes and Rivers in 1840 and I would have thought he could have been a Capt. His brother Samuel M. Pullen (my ancestor) was also employed in Navigation of Canals, Lakes and Rivers in 1840 in Chester, PA and later a Seamman and Sailor.

The info I had for the death of Jesse as c. 1844 was from Jeffrey Edmonds, but I don't know where he got that, so will have to ask him. He stated that the Virginia Herald is not available for 1844. He couldn't find Jesse, John or Lindsey in Hodge Obit Index. Do you have any sources for the deaths of any of them?
