John/Jehu is the same man. Yes, I have a copy of his probate and you can easily seen how handwriting lends itself to the mix up.

I really can't help you much with mid- 19th century Pullens in VA. My Pullens had migrated out of there by mid 1790s. I've only done minimal research after 1800.

The reason I was interested in Lindsay Pullen is because my Pullens migrated to GA and had some kind of close tie to the Lindsay family. I was trying to find the connection.

I believe there is a long history of the Pullen's being innkeepers especially Lancaster Co. If you look at the inventory of estate the #chairs, beds, dishes is well above norm. The inventory strongly suggest they may have been running an inn/tavern.

I don't know why there would be a discrepancy about page # & entries in The History of Fredricksburg. Mine was taken from an on-line book of the same.
