Pullen Genealogy
There is a book in the Library of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania I came across when doing some genealogical work on my other familial roots. I don't remember the specific name of the book, (seems like it was something simple like Pullen Family Ancestry)but it had Pullen genealogy all the way back to the 850s with many variants of the name i.e. Pullian, Pulliam, Pullan, etc. They (the authors of the book) speculated the name originated with a Roman soldier posted to Brittan whose name was Apollinus or something similar. I thought I had hit a goldmine when I found this, but was disappointed to find the latest info only included names up to the mid seventeen hundreds. I have no info to link my ancestry to anything in the book, (my oldest is James Pullen b. 12-31-1827 in England) but some of you may find it the goldmine I thought it was. If you want more info, the Library is located at 1500 Locust St. in Philadelphia.
