Hi Geraldyne,

So sorry to hear about your husband. There is absolutely no need to apologize.

I do think we may need to sort out some children. Frankie stated on one census [1900] that she had had 12 children with only 5 still living. She was living with Lethea in 1900, who I am certain is her oldest child due to this census:
1850 Bienville Parish, LA, FC, Western District, 04 Oct, Samuel Brown Asst Marshall, pg. 267, 274/274: William W. Ricks 36 M Farmer $350 SC; Franky 30 F cannot read/write; Lethea A. 15 F att sch; Wily 12 M att sch; William 11 M att sch; Nancy 8 F att sch; Edward 7 M att sch; Henry 5 M; Robert 1 M. Mother and all children born MS except Robert who was born in LA.

Anyway, this is something we can all sort out as we go along. The cousins will be ecstatic that you have turned up!!

A couple of us were trying to find out who Ransey/Ranzie Ricks belonged to. I will have to look in my notes and find which person was looking for him. [I, too, have not been working with the family for several months due to family issues] My Grandfather's youngest brother was named Ranza [and called Ranzie by the older folks], so we knew there must be a tie to the family somewhere.

I will be writing to you in the next couple of days. I'm having a little dental surgery done, and will be home for a while. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Thanks for getting around to me. I and a few other cousins really appreciate it. :-)

grace in VA
