I am a descendent of Albert Edward Pulling who came to Australia age 8 on the ship 'Gibson Craig' in August 1853 with his parents and siblings.
His parents were Charles Pulling, wholesale chemist/druggist (b.~1802 Berry Pomeroy, Devonshire, d.15 Dec 1880, 78yo) and Elizabeth nee Pulling (b.~1804 St Arvans Monmouthshire, d.13 Nov 1853, 48yo)
They were married July 1831 (possibly cousins).
Elizabeth died in 1853, 3 months after arriving in Australia. Charles remarried; he and Elizabeth Sarah DAVIDSON had one daughter Isabella Sarah PULLING.
The family group as listed on the ship was:
Charles 51 died 1880, 78yo
Elizabeth 48 died 1853, 48yo
Ellen 16 I believe went to New Zealand, not sure when.
Frances 15 Frances Harriet married George Canning MORGAN
Alexander 13 married Josephine Elizabeth HOBBS in 1866 and moved to Echuca, Victoria
Adelaide 10 married George ARNOLD
Albert 8 married Cecilia Jane COLLINS, they lived in Melbourne, Australia.
The following dates for the parents of Charles and Elizabeth are from family papers but are as yet unsubstantiated... their names are from Charles and Elizabeth's death certificates.
Charles' parents were William Pulling (b~1788, d.~1871) and Elizabeth nee Penny (d.~1847) and I have a number of siblings listed for him.
Elizabeth's parents were Capt. George Christopher Pulling RN of St Arvans, Monmouthshire (b.~1763, d~1819) and Elizabeth Sarah Moser (b.~1774, d 15 May 1838)
I'd love to hear from anyone who knows of a connection to these two Pulling families.
