I was looking at Olive "Pelum" on the 1870 Census in Union Township, Des Moines County, Iowa and she is daughter of James and Sarah Pelum. I was looking at the family because my great great grandmother, Catharine Mahala Corey married an Andrew Brown and she lived in this area and was thinking the Andrew Brown enumerated with this family may be the Andrew Brown she married. At any rate, I've seen the name spelled Pullum, too. Oddly, James and Sarah Pullum are in the 1860 Census in the same spot but there's no mention of Olive. There's a 6 year old Mary instead. Strange. They are in the 1856 Iowa State Census, too, and I don't see Olive.
