Hi Diana,

There are many stories like that......the more you do genealogy the more stories of hard times and split families you hear about.....

My dad's own great grandfather arrived from IRE married had 7 children, one son dies of TB, the last child being his only daughter dies before her first b-day, his wife followed a few months later then him and the end result was 5 boys were left to fend for themselves in their early teens.....1 fell in a river and another went in to save him and they both drowned...

Hardtimes, poor living conditions, TB running rampant......

Whats funny is the Punch family is not on the 1880 census....I could find none of them....

Elaine
