I made contact because I am following another Punch family which must be connected, descendants of a Joseph PUNCH who arrived in Thames, NZ. I have not yet discovered how or when, though it had to be in 1865 or before.

Reasoning: he had a son born in NZ in 1865; another in 1875 who was named Joseph Percival or Pierce PUNCH, and a grandchild registered as Joseph Pearce or Pierce PUNCH.

Joseph PUNCH (abt 1839-1899) married in NZ 1865 Catherine NICHOLL (abt 1842-1926). While living in Thames he was an 1878 signatory to a request for someone to stand for Parliament, and called himself Joseph Pearce PUNCH.

Their children were

John Francis PUNCH, (1865-1941).
[Named his first child Joseph Percival or Pierce PUNCH (1890-1969)]

Catherine Ann PUNCH (GOULD) (1878-1950)

Helena PUNCH (McNAIR) (1881-1958)

James PUNCH (1884-1918)

There may be other children between 1865 and 1875, but they have not yet been identified.

I can send you a family group record.
