Margaret, I looked through what I have on the NY lines and didn't find an Elizabeth to fit your description. My own family doesn't descend from the NY Pontiuses, but they are all related. The name changed later to Punches among some of them.
You might consider joining the Pontius-L list and posting a query to the list members. They are from many lines and usually someone can answer a query. To join, send a BLANK email, with only the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject line, to: Pontius-L-request@rootsweb.com. The list messages are distributed by email.
You will receive a confirmation automatically and then can post queries to the list by sending messages to Pontius-L@rootsweb.com.
