I don't have a Henry Punches, but am looking for info on Martin L. Punches born bet. 1817-1820 in NY State (I am thinking the Seneca Falls area; there are Punches' that settled there as well as a neighboring county that also begins with an "s."). Martin moved to Sandusky Co., Ohio with brothers Moses (b. abt. 1825) and Daniel (b. abt. 1814). It appears his mother Magdalena lived with brother Daniel; Magdalena was from Pennsylvania per the 1850 Census. Most of the NY Punches came from PA and some of them changed their name from Pontius. It seems that all Pontius' descend from one of two brothers, Johannes and Nicholas. There was at least one Punches (a Mark or Martin) that came from Germany in 1768 and settled in PA.

I hope this helps. Maybe we'll be able to hook our lines together someday; there aren't too many Punches around.
