I have a William Punshon living in West Rainton, Durham on all the census from 1841 to 1871. On all he is with Ann Punshon his "wife"!! or was it? I can find no trace of a marriage for William and Ann. They had 3 children John, Elizabeth and Ellen (Helen). At first I could find no entry in the parish church for their baptisms so assumed they were possibly Methodist or other denom. Then I found a marriage of one of these children (while looking for something else!!!!). Elizabeth Punsheon GRAY married at St. Mary's West Rainton on 10/4/1854 no mention of a father in the space for his name, but clearly signed Elizabeth Punsheon GRAY - X her mark. his lead me back to the baptism register and there they were all three children - Twins- John Punsheon GRAY and Elizabeth Punsheon GRAY 26/12/1830 mother Ann GRAY (Widow)and Helen (Ellen) 21/4/1833 mother Ann GRAY (Widow). So from this I decided that William and Ann were not married pre 1841, BUT did they marry after and where??????? John and Ellen both stated on their marriage cert. that William was their father and signed their name
I know very little about William other than he came from Newcastle and I think he is from the Ralph and Hussey (Ursular Marley) Punshon Line which will then take me back to Chester le Street.
Can anyone help me????????????
I must thank Heather Punshon who has helped as much as she could - Thanks Heather.
Hope you all don't come accross as many problems as I have.
