Purcell/Shepherd/Cloclazier/Terrill/Brashears/Nicks

Hello all.
It may seem disjointed, but this may actually help someone, so I decided to post this.

My main surnames for my parents' lines which are huge family groups:
ABBOTT/Scot.BRIGGS/WILLIS/WARNER/WEEMS/WEYMESS/WASHINGTON/TERRILL/LAWRENCE/MILLER/McCORMICK/LAYNE/LANE/TEAGUE/TURNER/CARTER/LANDON/TODD/OLIVER/OLIVE/WROE/BUTLER/Brit. BRIGGS/HALL and connecting families of:
EDWARDS/SLAUGHTER/SHEPHERD/TRIPLETT/FRENCH/HORD/CARTER/CARR/LAWHON/GARDNER//CAIN/HALL/JONES/BRASHEAR/TAYLOR, and these repeat with the above.

These are all families that tie to Augustine and Mildred Warner, brother and sister. One aunt of George Washington, the other, father of George Washington. All of my lines go through these at one point if not many, many times. So you may be able to use them as a "step" or clue, in the direction of a Purcell that might be in these lines mentioned. I have used them to reference connecting families to try to find my ABBOTT/WILLIS people. I am stuck, obviously... :)

I have sort of a convergence going on with these families, I think.

Group #1:
I have this fellow in a group of TX connections, that were my father's lines, and share some of my mother's lines. My parents go back to Henry VIII together, 27 generations:

John Purcell b. abt 1741 m. 1814, Rockingham, NC to Elizabeth Nicks b. 1760, NC. She may have married his brother, George Purcell, as well. Elizabeth is the dau. of John Nicks (IV) and Margaret Quinton Edwards. This Edwards line ends up in TX, Lee, Williamson, and surrounding counties (like all the surnames I have listed above).

The Nicks family join to the Brashear(s) line at Phoebe Nicks, sister to Elizabeth above. Phoebe Nicks m. Robert Samuel Brashears, son of Robert Brashears and Charity Dowell.

I also noticed that the person I know in the Edwards line also has a Jones/Gardner/Lawhon connection at a juncture in my mother's McCormick/Terrill line. I mention this because I saw one of the Purcell in this Purcell Forum has a Terrill, as well.

The McCormicks are a Quaker line descending from Dr. John McCormick in VA. Easy to look this guy up online.
The Terrills, my line is basically, Robert McCormick m. Virginia Terrill down to George McCormick, Jr. m. Phoebe Anna Reid and are in Denton, Denton Co., TX.

I am also in touch with another person who is a Peirsall/Whitaker, etc., that shares many of my lines, Millikin, Lane (Layne), Briggs, Bolling, and on and on.

She has some Purcells, which she suspects may be Peirsall name.

Group #2:
I started looking at Purcell because my husband's line has one direct ancestor, Hannah Purcell. My husband is from IA... so getting kind of "spooky" now. His family ties to the Shepherd line at Teague, and I have those distant ones in my TX groups! The very same juncture. The Teagues tie to my Layne/Lane and to Shepherd and Triplett juncture, as well. And NW he has PURCELLS...

Franklin Bell b. 1822, IL m. Hannah Purcell b. 3-31-1827 (Looks like Hardin Co., KY) at this point. She is buried at North River Cemetery, Warren Co., IA.

They had: John T. Bell, b. 1-27-1852, and Martha Jane b. 1848. John T. Bell b. in IL m. Jane Wadding. I know very little about them.

Franklin Bell died and Hannah Purcell m. John B. Cloclazier who was b. 3-12-1825, Owingsville, Bath Co., KY. He is buried next to her.

It might be worth a look for Purcell researchers to go to Find-A-Grave and look at Violet HIll Cemetery in IA, as well. I will add a Purcell listing at the end of this, hoping to help any one I can with these clues.

I also got a wild hair and read through the listings of the Purcells who are connected to the mutiny of The Bounty, so this may help someone.

Check into Hanan Maria m. to William Purcell line of “The Bounty," and I entered a note to myself on The Bounty Purcells below because they tie to a Hollingsworth, which is my fried who ties to me in many lines, mentioned before with Purcell and Whitaker, Lane, and Briggs, King Carter/Landon line, and others. And also the friend with Edwards/Terrill/McCormick/Jones has Holllingsworths. See below:

My Notes:
OK here is a site with Purcell and Bell in TX. They marry each other. And it goes back to an Indiana and Illinois, Purcell group!

Jonathan Purcell was born in Hampshire County, Virginia.  He died 4 Mar 1813 and buried West Salem Cemetery.  He married Catherine who died in 1803.  Children: Johnathan; John 1780-1856 married Hanna Hollingsworth.  Source Page 301, Roster of Soldiers and Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Indiana, 1938.

William Purcell was born 31 Jul 1761 Hampshire County, Virginia. He died about 1842 and buried on the McCleskey Farm just off the Bruceville Road. Stone. He married a Benefiel. Children: Edward; probably others. Source Page 301, 302,Roster of Soldiers and Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Indiana, 1938.

Try these sites, as well:

The Douthit name pops up in the TX groups, here and there, but not keeping up with them.

The West family, Wilson, Hampton, Marshall, Hill, seen with the Purcells here and there.

The Shepherd line:
George Washington Bell b. March 1879 (son of John T. Bell and Jane Wadding) m. 5-5-1901 to Elizabeth L. Shepherd b. 1882, Madison Co., IA (dau. of Eli H. Shepherd and Catherine "Kitty" Leonard.) Felix McClaren Shepherd(McLaurin/McLaren lines). McLarin goes to Shepherds and to Whitaker, etc. again, to Pearsall.

Here are some cemetery listings you may want to look through, and a marriage record site, as well:
