"Red" Purdham - WWII

Hello,
I am an antique dealer and collector and recently purchased a group of WWII letters and v-mails saved by John E. Bywaters and his wife Ola from Smithsburg, MD. In the group are two letters originally written by the Bywaters' to "Red" Purdham who was a nephew. The letters were returned and stamped "missing". Red served with the 388th Bomb Group, 560 Bomb Squadron. We can deduce from the letters that he had received a medal for killing a "Jerry". It is a little hard to read, but I believe his initials were H.E.

I am interested in corresponding with interested parties about Red's experience in the war. Please e-mail me directly at Joy@JustaJoy.com
Thanks,
Joy Shivar
