Hi,
from my research so far I have found it to have more french
influence coming from Prudhomme, Prudomme, Prudum, Purdum,
Purdom, and even Purdue and probably a lot of other variations, I find that as soon as one group of them left
to go to another place a name change took place as well,
in Kentucky both Purdum and Purdom are considered to be probably related somehow.
