PURDUM from Scotland

My PURDUM line seems to originate from Scotland and I`ve found two likely areas, Dumfries and Roxburghshire, where the name is predominant on the I.G.I.
I have John PURDUM who in 1851 is in Hexham, Northumberland, England and says he was born in Scotland.
Unfortunately his wife has died before the first census, but I have a possible marriage to Betty LITTLER. I have found a possible baptism for some children in Cumberland, though can`t prove this at the moment. It`s quite possible John lived in Cumberland for a while before settling in Northumberland.
This is as far back as I`ve got with PURDUM. My main line comes from Isabella, John`s daughter who married Jonathan PEARSON.
If anyone spots a link or has any ideas, please shout out.
George Carter.
