Nobody answered! That's a shame. Luke, your best bet is to write to Clayton Purdy and get his book. My connection to the Purdys is mostly peripheral on both sides of my family. No Purdy ancestors, but a lot of cousins married them. I know enough to know that they were a Hugenot family (the name is said to come from "Per Dieu!" or By God!; or "Pour Dieu", For God. I have been aware of Clayton for years as a result, and his work would probably be the best source of information on a HUGE family related to everbody. I believe that this includes those in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. (Actually, if your ancestor was connected with ships, he may have been related to some cousins who built ships.) Clayton may even be from Nova Scotia.
