Actually, there is another error in the Smyrna Cemetery GenWeb and Find-a Grave info regarding their son, Renssalier/Rensalear/Ronslaer Purdy. Somewhere I had obtained a death date of 19 Jun 1864 and that he had died in the Civil War. There is a cemetery stone in the Smyrna Cemetery for Ronslaer Purdy in the same plot as Gilbert and Maria (Giffin) Purdy that says he died in 1861. Yesterday online I found on the Hathi Trust Digital Library website a military entry for him in "Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War, 1861-1865" Here it is:
Purdy, Rensalear, Grattan. Enlisted in company D, Engineers and Mechanics, Dec. 29, 1863, at Grand Rapids, for 3 years, age 18. Mustered Jan. 4, 1864. Died of disease at Chattanooga, Tenn., June 19, 1864. Buried in National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tenn. Grave No. 11,413
